Organisation Profile : Re-Union Canal Boats Ltd is a well-established innovative social enterprise operating on the Union Canal. We offer a commercial boat hire service and manage a number of employability and canal-related contracts which generates the income to subsidise community activity and volunteer support. We are going through a period of re-structuring and the Board now wishes to recruit a Business Manager with the skills to consolidate the organisation in terms of business income and contracts, demonstration of its social impact and its management and governance.

Application Notes : Business Manager - Application process Applying Please send a CV that lists your education with dates, your previous employment/occupations with dates, memberships etc. Please explain any gaps in your history. Provide a personal statement that demonstrates that you can meet the competencies expected in the job description, using the headings provided. Provide two referees and their contact details, one of whom must be your most recent employer. Please state the nature of the relationship you have or have had with your referees. Re-Union will only take up references when an offer is made, subject to satisfactory references. The closing date for applications is 30th October 2017 at 5pm. Application can be made by email or post. Individuals selected for interview will be notified by telephone by 2nd November 2017. The interview process should take around 1.75 hours. The interview process will take place in three parts. 1. The initial part will consist of an informal discussion with staff and volunteers of Re-Union, on Re-Unionís boat, Lochrin Belle, based at Edinburgh Quay. This will take 30 minutes. Staff will be able to answer any queries you have about Re-Union. 2. Interviews will then be held at Re-Unionís temporary offices at 15 Valleyfield Street, EH3 9LP, which are 5 minutes from the boat. Staff will bring you round to the offices. 3. Interviews will last approx 1 hour. Interviewees should prepare one 10 minute presentation, on either of these two themes: a) Proposal for a Re-Union business planning process or b) Proposal for one new income stream that Re-Union could develop. Interviewees will not have access to audio-visual equipment to do this presentation, so should come prepared to talk, to handouts if necessary. There will be 4 members on the interview panel.
